Q: How can I extract the time of certain MM-solutions in ATLAS?

A: This solution was provided by our European office: a small script will extract the time from transient log files. To use it, download the script and follow these steps:


  1. Start the script
  2. Enter the file name of the transient log file
  3. Enter the root of the name of the solution files (the file name with the solution index at the end omitted).

The script scans your directory for such solution files and extracts the solution-index from the file name. With that index it goes in the log-file and locates the corresponding transient time.

Q: Will I be able to use the BSIM3 parameter extraction routine using a large geometry device which does not belong to the common length or width arrays?


A: Yes, this feature has been developed recently and will be available in the next official release of UTMOST. Recent developments in the BSIM3 routine will allow the user to extract parameters from a large device combined with width and length array devices which do not share the drawn dimensions of the large device. For example, the user can select a 50/50 (Width=50mm /Length =50mm) device with 10/1, 10/0.6, 1/20, 0.6/20 devices for the BSIM3 extraction. Prior to this improvement the L-array devices had to have the same width as the large device, and the narrow width devices had to have the same length as the large device.The requirement of selecting two devices with common length and two devices with common width still exists for the BSIM3 extraction routine to function properly.

A BSIM3v3 extraction option will also be available in the next official release.This option can be activated by setting the BSIM3 V(2-3) variable from the "Fit. Variables" screen (Figure 1).
