When we think of research and development in the Microelectronics industry, we typically think of East Asia, the United States and Europe. However there is a long time conference held in South America called "Chip in [location]."
The Silvaco SURGE 2019 Global User Conference was successfully held on July 19, 2019 at the Kerry Hotel in Pudong, Shanghai! More than 200 guests from panel display, semiconductor product design and manufacturing, semiconductor industry associations, universities and research institutes attended the conference.
In the following video, Dr. Firas Mohamed, VP & GM, Machine Learning & Flow Optimization Division and GM, Silvaco France talks with Graham Bell about Machine Learning technologies deployed in Silvaco EDA tools at the SEMICON West 2019, July 9 - 11 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. A transcript of the video is also below.
In the following video, Wally Rhines, CEO Emeritus, Mentor Graphics speaks with Graham Bell about the worlds of Design and Manufacturing meeting at SEMICON West and ES DEsign West, a co-located event, July 9 - 11 at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
SURGE brings together users, developers, and industry experts of the EDA, IP and TCAD communities to discuss new semiconductor technologies, smart integration for innovative applications and new techniques for realizing advanced designs. According to CTO Babak Taheri, “These events open up important conversations with industry leaders and peers, highlight smart solutions to real-world challenges, and provide insight into current and future trends.”
In the following video, I discuss the latest IP developments at Silvaco for the Design&Reuse audience from the show floor at DAC 2019 in Las Vegas, NV.

July 9 - 11 at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the premier conference devoted to the design and automation of electronic systems (EDA), embedded systems and software (ESS), and intellectual property (IP) was held this week, June 3-5, in Las Vegas, NV. Silvaco had many excellent customer meetings. The attendance was lighter than last year in the SF Bay area, but the quality was very high.
Silvaco will showcase its suite of solutions from Atoms to Systems, next week, at the Design Automation Conference (DAC) 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Silvaco had a large booth in the middle of the show floor at Display Week 2019 at the San Jose Convention Center, this week May 14 through 16. Our technology experts were on hand to discuss and demo our TCAD-to-signoff solutions with emphasis on design of the next generation of TFT, LCD, LED, OLED and MicroLED products.
Attend the 25th annual TSMC Technology Symposium and get first-hand updates on TSMC's advanced and specialty technologies, advanced packaging capabilities and future development plans. Silvaco will showcase its Smart Silicon Solutions for nanometer designs and IP in the Ecosystem Pavilion
ChipEx is the largest international event of the Israeli microelectronics industry. It is held annually in Tel Aviv, Israel and brings together more than 1,500 industry professionals for their annual gathering. This year it will be held will be held on May 13, 2019. ChipEx includes vendors' exhibition, technology conference and the most exclusive event called the Israel Executive Summit which is specifically designed for the senior executives of the microelectronics industry.
At Design & Reusse's IP-SoC event I will present my talk on "Next Generation of SoC Design flow: From Atoms to System Solutions." It will take place at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara on April 9 at 2:00 PM.
Silvaco Inc. is pleased to announce the 2019 SURGE (Silvaco UserRs Global Event) schedule.
SURGE (Silvaco UseRs Global Event) brings together users, developers,
and industry experts of the EDA, IP and TCAD communities to discuss new
semiconductor technologies, smart integration for innovative
applications and new techniques for realizing advanced designs.
I was at the SEMICON show in China last week. The crowds were enormous, and the energy was intense. Whatever you might think about the consolidation at the front-end of the SoC design chain, the back-end is continuing to thrive and grow. But you may not know there is a new synergy between the traditional SEMI manufacturing audience and the system design focus of the ESD-Alliance which recently became an independent association of SEMI.org.
Dr. Misha Temkin was a beloved colleague and researcher who worked at Silvaco for over 30 years. He passed on March 12, 2019 after a long cancer illness. He was a dedicated Senior Applications Engineer in the TCAD Division at the Santa Clara, California headquarters.
The beauty of the Design Automation Conference is that it is always the same and never the same. There is no technical conference like it. Every year there is the Technical Program, the Designer Track, IP Track and the Exhibition. And the networking opportunities with customers and colleagues is second to none.
David Dutton will moderate the Panel Session: Applications of AIoT with four executive panelist that have direct experience with AIoT applications. Come and here what is the progress to date, what are the next challenges, and what opportunities are available for the next high-growth application.
Silvaco CEO David Dutton sits down with Graham Bell to discuss the growth of the company in 2018 including drivers and trends from customers and also takes a look forward to 2019.
The analysis and characterization of stress effects have become an integral part of semiconductor technology and device design. In a typical semiconductor process flow the stresses are generated primarily due to volume expansion or contraction of the adjacent materials during temperature variations.
