Q: How can I measure and view multiple IDS/VGS and IDS/VDS curves
together for each device in ALL_DC routines?

A: Multiple IDS/VGS and IDS/VDS data sets can be collected and viewed by using UTMOST's multiple setup definition feature. In the Model Strategy Screen, the same geometry needs to be defined more than once by using the different setup number.

Here is an example for collecting the data sets listed below for a W=50 µm and L=50 µm NMOS device:

IDS/VGS data at VDS=0.1V. IDS/VGS data at VDS=5.0V.

IDS/VDS data at VBS=0.0V. IDS/VDS data at VBS=-3.0V.

These four curves can be measured and viewed on the same graphics screen by following these steps:

1. Open the DC Measurement Screen for ALL_DC routine and enter 2 in the text field across from the "# of Setups".

2. Select Setup#1 by pressing on the button across from the "Setup". Toggle the To Model button until it reads "ID/VD,VG". Enter the following values in the DC Measurement Screen:

 

VD_start_vd: 0 VD_stop_vd: 5
VG_start_vd: 1 VG_step_vd: 1
VB_start_vd: 0 VB_step_vd: 0
vb_points_vd: 1 VG_start_vg: 0
VG_stop_vg: 5 VD_vg: 0.1
VB_start_vg: 0 VB_step: -1

3. Select Setup#2 by pressing on the button across from the "Setup". Enter the following values in the DC Measurement Screen :

 

VD_start_vd: 0 VD_stop_vd: 5
VG_start_vd: 2 VG_step_vd: 1
VB_start_vd: -3 VB_step_vd: 0
vb_points_vd: 1 VG_start_vg: 0
VG_stop_vg: 5 VD_vg: 5
VB_start_vg: 0 VB_step: -1

4. Open the Model Strategy Screen and define two devices with the same W and L (W=50µm and L=50µm) for Device#1 and Device#2.

5. Select these first two devices and toggle the Setup# button until it reads one for device#1 and two for device#2 (Figure 1).

6. Press on measure button for ALL_DC routine to collect the data. After the data is collected there should be four curves for 50/50 device on the graphics screen (Figure 2).


Q: Does Silvaco provide Characterization, SPICE Modeling and SPICE Model Validation services ?

 

A: Yes, Silvaco has provided SPICE modeling services since 1984. Modeling services should be used in cases when a quick turnaround time and accurate models are needed.

Silvaco provides Diode, JFET, Bipolar and scalable MOS modeling services at a reasonable price. Data can be collected from customer's own test chips or standard industrial packaged parts using UTMOST parameter extraction software. The user receives well documented data, including simulated versus measured curves and SPICE model files.
