SmartSpice RF employs a combination of time-domain Shooting and frequency-domain Harmonic Balance methods to provide accurate verification of GHz range RF IC. SmartSpice RF can be used in place of Agilent Technologies ADS and Golden Gate, Cadence Spectre and SpectreRF, Mentor Graphics EldoRF, and Synopsys HspiceRF and offers the following key features:

  • Performs complete set of periodic (single-tone) and quasi-periodic (multi-tone) analyses for large- and small-signal applications - each with parametric sweeping of input power, temperature, component values or design parameters, and Monte-Carlo control parameters
  • Employs advanced numerical algorithms - Harmonic Balance, Krylov-Newton, continuation, GMRES solvers
  • Analysis of voltage controlled oscillators with frequency dividers and efficient parametric sweeping to determine oscillation frequencies, amplitudes, and phase noise
  • Steady-state noise analysis to determine the noise figure, output noise spectrum and input reference noise; small-signal analysis to determine conversion efficiency, image and side-band rejection, local oscillator signal feedthrough; to compute the intermodulation products, compression and intercept points, harmonic distortion, gains; extract large-signal S-parametersTime-frequency domain Envelope analysis of the circuits driven by digitally modulated sources
  • Supports industry-standard and user-defined device models and S-parameters

  • Includes complete set of a digitally modulated sources which cover most of wireless standards, such as GMSK, MPSK, MQAM, MFSK, EDGE, OFDM, WCDMA, etc.
  • Provides simulations and standard RF measurements of the spectral regrowth, I/Q parameters, ACPR, NPR, EVM, BER in amplifiers and mixers; characterization of the transmission link quality in communications systems, etc.
  • Supports results post-processing as Smith charts, eye diagrams, spectral plots, histograms, signal-to-noise calculations, gain and stability circles, trajectory and constellation diagrams, etc.
